How Long Does Headlight Restoration Take?

For BrightLight Restoration, an average headlight restoration job takes about two hours. That is a useful planning estimate, not a fixed duration for every car. The condition and difficulty of the lenses determine the actual work.

Why two vehicles may need different amounts of time

The service is a preparation and finishing process. We use seven sanding grits on each of the two headlights, preparation materials, polishing compound, and UV-protectant clear-coat wipes. The lenses do not all start in the same condition.

Heavier weathering or more difficult surface issues can change the amount of work. Tell us about cracks, previous coatings, or known past restoration. If damage goes all the way through a headlight, our process cannot remove it.

What to text before scheduling

Useful photos and location details help us estimate the job honestly instead of guessing from a vehicle model alone.

  • The vehicle make and model.
  • A clear photo of each headlight, plus a wider front view.
  • Close-ups of visible cracks or unusual damage.
  • The actual work address and parking/access details.
  • Your preferred day and any deadline for needing the vehicle.
  • Any requested fog-light or trim add-ons, with separate photos.

Where should I park?

Start with a safe, legal location that leaves room for us to work around the front of the vehicle. A driveway or other parking area where the owner permits the work can be discussed.

For a workplace, apartment, or shared lot, check permission first. Send access instructions, the vehicle's parking location, and any restrictions. We will confirm the setup before scheduling rather than assume every lot allows the work.

Work duration is not the same as clear-coat cure time

An appointment estimate describes the restoration work. Drying and curing are separate questions. The coating instructions and the conditions on the day matter, so ask for the exact guidance at handover.

Our current care sticker says to avoid touching for one hour and wait 24 hours before washing. Do not interpret either interval as a universal full-cure time.

Confirm the visit instead of relying on an assumed slot

BrightLight is open 10 a.m.–6 p.m. every day, including weekends. A preferred day or time needs to be confirmed with us, especially if you have a deadline.

Quotes are free. Call or text (208) 352-2858 to discuss the lenses, work location, and expected appointment length. The headlight time estimate should not be applied to whole-exterior polishing or paint restoration.
